Students will explore a world of artistic expression, cultivate technical skills, and embark on an inspiring journey of self-discovery under the guidance of talented professionals. Classes are held on Fridays and are open to Mercy Prep students and the homeschool community.

Creative Writing
Embark on a literary journey led by an award winning published author. From storytelling to poetry, students explore the art of words, honing their writing skills with seasoned insights.

Poetry
This interactive class is divided into three segments: suffix exercises, rhyme identification, and guided poem creation, all designed to inspire creativity and develop poetic skills. Students explore the art of rhyme and self-expression with content tailored to their grade level.

Bricks 4 Kidz “Ticket to Ride”
Delve into the history and mechanics of favorite amusement park rides in this imaginative unit. Students will construct a Carousel Swing, Tilt a Whirl, Loop de Loop ride, Swing boat ride, and Merry Go Round.

Intro to Photography
This course is designed to teach technical skills and the basics of storytelling through documentary photography. Each week combines classroom instruction with hands-on practice to help students develop their technical and creative skills. The course culminates in a portfolio that tells a story or documents a subject of each student’s choice.

Intro to Art
Students will build strength, coordination, and stamina through creative projects that involve cutting, gluing, and shaping with materials like scissors, clay, and paper. From collage work to pattern making, these hands-on activities not only spark creativity but also enhance fine motor skills, laying a strong foundation for handwriting and future art classes.

Drawing
Students will explore a variety of artistic tools and techniques using pastels, charcoal, ink, graphite, and more. Through creative projects, they’ll learn the fundamentals of shading, texture, and composition, building confidence and expressing their imagination on paper.

Beginner Machine Sewing
This introductory sewing class teaches students the essentials of using a sewing machine safely and effectively. Students will learn machine setup, basic stitches, and fabric handling techniques as they work on projects that build skills, creativity, and confidence in sewing.

Beginner Hand Sewing
This beginner sewing class introduces students to the basics of hand sewing. Through fun, hands-on projects, students will learn techniques like threading, basic stitches, and pattern tracing, building confidence and creativity as they complete their own sewn creations.
